Improvising stories with strong and specific characters and worlds while moving a narrative forward is a challenging skill for any improviser. In this five week class, students will practice using the same narrative skills and character tropes found in the Hero’s Journey and the Fairy Tale form to advance any improvised story. Students will perform games and exercises to hone their storytelling skills while learning how to commit fully to every hero, villain, and charm characters! In the final classes, students will apply these new skills to an improvised open narrative. This class will culminate in a showcase. The prerequisite for this class is Level Five Improv at Stomping Ground Comedy Theater or graduation from an equivalent program with permission from the Training Center Director.

About Your Instructor:
Lynsey Hale is a high school theatre teacher with almost 20 years of teaching experience. She has been teaching at Stomping Ground since 2020, and performing at Stomping Ground since they opened. Lynsey performs short form, long form, musical improv, and everything in between. She enjoys performing different narrative styles in shows such as KEVIN! Presents…, Midnight Vault, Live.Laugh.M**der!, and Spaghetti Confetti. Character work is her favorite, but she feels like the musical fairytale has made non-musical narrative improv easier. She hopes that this class will help you unlock previously undiscovered narrative improv moves.
This is a 5 week recurring in-person course held Mondays, 7-9:30pm starting Monday, July 21st. The instructor is Lynsey Hale. All sales are final. Classes are non-refundable but enrollment can be deferred to a future class. All students must adhere to policies in the Stomping Ground Student Handbook. Must be 18 years or older.
