I've been with BCR for nearly 10 years where I have learned from incredible skaters, carving my own niche as a jammer to be part of The Scartel as they became men's national champions in 2019 and as part of Team Team Australia in 2020.
I focus on reliability on track, making deliberate choices over jamming intuitively and short jams with quick leads.
Synaptic Kid
Synaptic Kid has been an integral member of the Wizards of Aus since 2014, actively participating in the Men's Roller Derby World Cup cycles of 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020. Additionally, Synaptic Kid played a crucial role in supporting the Brisbane City Rollers (Scartel) to secure their first-place finish at the 2019 AMRD Nationals.
Synaptic Kid's interests spans several key areas, including:
Teaching skaters how to effectively handle opponents larger than themselves
Enhancing the dynamic between jammers and blockers for optimal offense and defense
Controlling games through strategic pack and speed management
Speed and control within short distances and small spaces
Adapting to changing environments while blocking, with a focus on pack awareness and unit replenishment
Improving efficiency in lateral movements
Innovating techniques to counter jammer movements
Taking control of jam starts to set the pace and control from the outset
Since beginning his coaching journey in 2013, Synaptic Kid has gained extensive experience skating with some of Australia's top skaters and coaches. He has successfully guided skaters from rookie levels to travel team standards, helping them achieve their goals in roller derby.
