Basic Blacksmithing for Beginners

This beginning class assumes no previous knowledge of metalworking, but any shop experience will be helpful. Class starts with basic safety, fire management, and hammering techniques. Next, you will learn tapering, bending, and shaping while also being introduced to more advanced methods. Finally, you will use these techniques to make your own item, such as a hook or keychain. This class provides a brief but compelling introduction to the blacksmithing world and prepares you for the next level, Intermediate Blacksmithing with Focus on Projects
