Madison SWCD Soil Health Field Day

June 23rd is National Soil Health Day, and the Madison County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) and partners are hosting a SOIL HEALTH FIELD DAY at McLaughlin Farms in Cumming, Iowa (northeast Madison County).

Registration will open at 9:00 a.m., and the program will begin at 9:30 a.m.

We are pleased that Iowa Learning Farms is bringing one of their Conservation Stations and will be demonstrating the rainfall simulator. Other speakers will include our host, Dennis McLaughlin; Ruth Blomquist, NRCS Soil Health Specialist for the SW Iowa Area; and Erin Van Waus from the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation. There will also be a field tour to the pasture, more demonstrations, and opportunities for discussion.

Lunch will be provided! The Madison County Cattlemen will be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs; we are also planning to serve chips and cookies. Seating may be limited, so we encourage attendees to consider bringing a lawn chair.
