Did you know that in 2021, suicide was the 11th leading cause of death overall in the US, claiming the lives of over 48,000 people? What would you say if we could change that # for the better? Suicide awareness is not discussed as much as it needs to be. Before we lost our 23 year old son, Tyler Peletsky to suicide on May 25th, 2024, we were uneducated in this realm of mental health disease. If we could educate more people, and have more resources available, we could potentially save more lives.
Let me get to the reason of why we are doing this fundraiser. As mentioned above, on 5-25-24, we got the most devastating news a parent could receive. That our beautiful boy, a young man who, just 20 days earlier, celebrated his 23rd birthday, committed suicide. 💔 Our world was turned upside down that day. If we would have known of, and if Tyler would have known of, the help and resources that were out there, maybe he would still be here with us today. If he would have known he could have dialed "988" to talk to someone, maybe he would still be here.
Tyler was a wonderful, happy, funny, handsome son. He was a terrific brother and best friend to his younger brother, Xander and his older brother, Casey. He was hardworking. He was an attentive, caring and involved, loving father to his 2 daughters who are now 3.5 years old and 1 year old.
This benefit is to raise funds to be donated to the creating and building of the suicide memorial garden that is to be built this year in Pottsville, PA. We also want to make a donation to the suicide awareness programs in our area to help further educate and assist individuals who need help.
We want to remember Tyler, and all the suicide victims that are no longer with us.
