Special Council Meeting

Council will hold a Special Meeting to conduct a Public Hearing for and to review the FY26 town budget.

This is our opportunity as Culpeper residents and business owners to understand and raise concerns regarding the planned budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

At a glance:
-- Total FY26 budget is $61,901,560.
-- Council will vote to adopt the budget at May's Regular Meeting.
-- Covers 1 July 2025 - 30 June 2026 (FY26).
-- Real estate tax rate reduced (for 2025) from $0.066 to $0.061.
-- No personal property tax increase.
-- No machinery and tools tax increase.
-- Water utility rates increase by 3%.
-- Wastewater utility rates increase by 3%.
-- Electric utility rates increase by 2%.
-- Commercial trash service increase of $.50 per cart.
-- Historic District commercial trash increase of $1.50 per cart.
-- Residential electric meter charge increase of $10.
-- Non-residential electric meter charge increase of $200.
