What's Chuseok?
Chuseok means "autumn eve" and is a major Korean harvest festival on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, equivalent to a three-day Korean Thanksgiving. The holiday celebrates the year's abundant harvest and includes family gatherings, traditional ancestral rites, and feasts of special foods. It is a time for Koreans to travel to their hometowns, pay respect to their ancestors, and strengthen family ties.
What's hanji?
Hanji (한지) is the traditional, handmade Korean paper known for its remarkable strength, durability, and versatility, made from the inner bark of the mulberry tree. It has been an essential part of Korean culture for over a millennium, historically used for writing, printing, art, and household items such as window coverings, fans, and even clothing. Today, the craft of making Hanji continues to be preserved and adapted for modern uses, including fine art, conservation, and interior design.
