Come share a drink every first Wednesday of the month with fellow eco-enthusiasts, everyone’s welcome!
THIS MONTH'S TOPIC & SPEAKER
The next Green Drinks presentation will be on Wednesday August 6th, 2025, 5 PM at Duke’s Alehouse and Kitchen in Crystal Lake. Long time Green Drink attendee and speaker Jeffrey Miller will be our speaker. He's coming back from his new home in Henry, IL to share what he found out with all of us.
If you are considering going all electric, and wondering what it will cost you during the winter months. Jeff Miller will share detailed data from last winter.
Jeff's system isn't a small mini split system; it's a full size, direct replacement of a traditional ducted furnace and AC system. He has detailed circuit level energy consumption data so he could see what the back up heat strips consume vs the heat pump, and it's traced in detail, and not mixed in with the rest of the house loads.
Jeff did some insulation improvements over a year prior to the conversion so this is the same house 2023-24 with gas heat and then 2024-25 with all electric heat.
Jeff will briefly discuss the ways he gave his heat pump as many advantages as he could to get as much performance as he could and limit the potential winter operational issues that can happen.
