Cody Purvis (Full Band) w/ Sela Campbell @ Pro Re Nata

Cody Purvis sometimes walks down Music City’s famed Lower Broad listening to the myriad of songs pouring onto the historic street. Like thousands of other music lovers who flock there, he finds himself drawn to the “real country music.”

Cody Purvis fondly remembers holding the vinyl 45rpm single of “The Wreck of the Southern Crescent” that his Dad recorded in a Nashville studio in 1979. He KNEW that one day, his name would be on that label and he’d be making records of his own. “I don’t ever remember not wanting to play music and entertain people for a living—it was just a given. In fact, I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t working to grow myself as an artist” says Purvis.

Among his musical influences, Keith Whitley, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Conway Twitty, Dean Dillon, Toby Keith, (and pretty much anyone old-school and traditional), he idolized his father most.

“I wanted to follow in their footsteps and real country music was something that rang true for me. I know there’s still a demand for it. I want to provide for that demand. Those listeners are my audience.” You can hear Cody’s deliverance of said demand in his current EP, Boots On The Ground!

Sela Campbell

Sela Campbell was an American Idol contestant on the 22nd season and has been featured in multiple promotions for the show. Sela is a country music singer, songwriter, and guitarist based in Loudoun County, Virginia. At just seventeen years old, Sela has performed over 200 shows in the last three years across Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland. She was voted Best Local Band/Musician in the Loudoun Times Mirror’s 2023 Best of Loudoun competition, and she won best soloist in the 2022 Loudoun County Battle of the Bands. She is known for her beautiful voice and plays all types of country music, from Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn to many of today’s most popular artists including Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, and The Chicks. She’s also begun writing and performing her own music, including her singles “One Track Mind” and “Yellow Flowers”. You can find Sela playing at many of Northern Virginia’s best venues, with occasional “out of town” shows and festival appearances as well.
