Not Today! Women's Situational Awareness & Self-Defense Workshop

This workshop is interactive and lead by seasoned martial artists, trained police officers, and domestic violence advocates.

A portion of the proceeds will be benefitting St, Jude House Domestic Violence Center in Crown Point, IN.

Ages 13+ can participate in this event. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Learn and practice:

Street Smarts 101: The Psychology of Safety

• What attackers look for
• How to identify threats early
• Navigating public spaces confidently

Self-Defense in Action: Technique Training

• Escaping grabs
• Basic strikes (palm, knee, elbow)
• Ground defense basics

Power in Practice: Real-World Application

• Practice awareness and self-defense in simulated situations

Take away

• Feeling more prepared, more confident, and more in control of your safety.
• Safety tools and resources to access when you need a refresher.
• Giveaway prizes and goodie bags.
• Vendors will also be selling self-defense items for additional protection.

• Globally, an estimated 736 million women, one in three, have been subjected to some form of physical and/or sexual violence, at least once in their life.
• The most recent global estimates from the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime show that, on average, more than 5 women or girls are killed every hour (or one every 11 minutes) by someone in their own family.
• One in five women in the United States experienced completed or attempted rape during their lifetime.

• 81% of women reported experiencing some form of sexual harassment and/or assault in their lifetime.
• One in three female victims of completed or attempted rape experienced it for the first time between the ages of 11 and 17.
• According to the United Nations’ International Labour Organization, human traffickers victimize an estimated 27.6 million people worldwide. 23% are in sex trafficking of which 78% are women and girls.
