Well Water Nitrate Testing

Test your drinking water for free on Friday, August 22, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Crosslake City Hall (13888 Daggett Bay Road, Crosslake, MN).

Private wells should be tested for nitrate every year. High levels of nitrate in water can be a result of runoff or leakage from fertilized soil, wastewater, landfills, animal feedlots, septic systems, or urban drainage.

You will need to bring a fresh, water sample (taken within one day of analysis) with you. To take your sample, run your cold tap for 5 to 10 minutes then collect about one cup of water in a plastic baggie (double bag) or clean jar. Keep the water cool until arrival.
