That's right DOG DAY AFTERNOON is back!!
It's a bit different this year as our buddies at Mystery Quest have moved into Crewe Central, but this has just made things even better as now as well as a full afternoon of great bands we also have AXE THROWING - possibly the first every music and axe throwing festival in history - get yourself booked in advance if you want to take part in the axe throwing and see if you can be champion of Dog Day!
The bands we have are absolutely fantastic - we've been lucky enough to snag Carol Hodge, you might have seen her recently playing to thousands with Steve Ignorant and his Crass line up, or with Ginger from The Wildhearts, she's a one woman tour de force when she's solo tough with one of the best voices you'll ever come across - she's actually booked to play in London the same night, but because she rocks she agreed to come here and open things up for us!
GAS Kunst are going from strength to strength and have a new record out on Rare Vitamin, you'll probably have heard them on 6 Music or maybe caught them playing on a load of cool gigs in Liverpool and Manchester - added bonus, one of them lives in Crewe now, so you can claim them as your own!
Kicked In The Teeth are a regular fixture at Dog Day, mainly as I play the drums and it's loads of fun, so there's no way we aren't doing it.
Lobster are one of the future big bands that you'll be raving over in a few years, they are from Crewe too and breaking through from a really exciting scene that's happening under your nose, spearheaded by their buddies University who are blowing up right now, I asked Dom to describe them and he said 'LoFi Slacker Rock'...... me neither, which means it must be pretty cool!
Mademaker are joining us from Warrington, this is a really cool addition, they are pretty new, but have some considerable pedigree, so they're already popping up on loads of cool line ups, like this one, expect some pretty heavy rock/grunge, riff city!
Red Spektor are Crewe royalty, if you've not seen them you must have been living under a rock, they killed it at previous Dog Days, and you'll have caught them at numerous venues over the years, stoner rock perfection!
These Towns are another returning favourite and local Crewe guys to boot! They had to play early because they've got to go to a wedding in the evening and they'll definitely need to shower after they've played, the cream of Crewe Indie Rock right here!
So there we go, every band on the line up could be the headliner, it's strong from start to finish - we are running from 12 midday until 6pm - if you still want to party after there will be a DJ set in the main Market Hall and TAYLOR SWIFT is playing at The Lyceum!!
Can't wait to get back to it!!
