(We will also have a sign-in sheet at the meeting location if not.)
Meeting Location: Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge, main entrance parking lot. Located at 5000 Wildlife Drive NW, Townsend, GA. (31.63001 N, 81.28574 W)
We will be meeting at 9:00am in the parking lot at the entrance to the refuge. It is about an hour drive from Camden County. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to park and assemble!
After we meet in the parking lot, depending on how many people come, and if anyone is willing, we will try to consolidate into fewer vehicles while we drive through the refuge. There are a few spots in the refuge we will stop, walk a bit, and view birds at, including Woody Pond, Goose Pond, and Snipe Pond. There is an outhouse at the main entrance parking lot, but keep in mind that this is the only restroom in this area.
Our target species include wood storks, roseate spoonbills, and painted buntings.
Here is a list of suggested items to bring:
-Sunscreen (!!)
-Bug spray (!!)
-Comfortable walking shoes
-Water/snacks
-Camera and/or binoculars
Let us know if you have any additional questions! Hope you can make it.
