2025 Fall Speaker Series: Howard Blasczyk - "To and From Putnam County by Rail"

Talk title: To and From Putnam County by Rail

Subtitle (synopsis): A brief journey through the history of one of the first railroads to be constructed in Putnam County, as well as later rail companies.

Bio: Howard Blasczyk is a Palatka native. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Nova University. He retired from Florida Power & Light Co. in 1999 after 30 years of service.
Howard has railroads in his “genes” as his grandfather was employed as a bridge tender with Florida East Coast Railway, a telegrapher with Atlantic Coast Line Railroad, retiring as Station Master at Union Station – Palatka. He has memories of Southern trains street-running in Palatka on Laurel Street to reach their riverfront terminal.
Howard has been a member of Atlantic Coast Line & Seaboard Air Line Historical Society for over 32 years. He is also charter member of Palatka Railroad Preservation Society, and currently serves as Vice President/Treasurer.
