Nest Box Project - This event is limited to numbers, please confirm attendance by messaging the group direct. All children must attend with an appropriate adult. All equipment will be supplied by the group.
We’ve been lucky enough to secure some funding via Northumberland County Council Environment and Climate Fund.
As part of this project we will be building 50 nest boxes with the assistance of our local community over the summer and autumn period.
• Nest Box Monitoring:
Volunteers build, erect within the nature reserve and monitor nest boxes, observing the birds that use them for nesting.
• Recording Breeding Data:
Information is recorded on the number of eggs, chicks, and fledglings, as well as any other relevant observations about the nesting attempt.
• Understanding Breeding Success:
The data collected helps researchers and conservationists understand how bird populations are faring, including factors like habitat loss and climate change.
• Long-Term Monitoring:
Our nest box surveys provide valuable long-term data on bird populations, allowing for tracking changes over time.
If you would like to be involved please drop us a message direct.
