Children's Advocacy Center - Hope House
223 West 28th Avenue, Covington, United States
Children's Advocacy Center - Hope House will host a Human Trafficking 101 Training geared towards local parents, and adults who work with children and youth. This training, which will be held at Hope House in Covington (223 W. 28th Avenue) from 6-7:30PM, will be presented by Hope House staff member Cayla Colwell, Youth Trafficking Care Coordinator. As complimentary dinner and refreshments will be provided for all registrants, please allow a 24-hour advance notice if you need to cancel for any reason.
The training will focus on the risk factors and warning signs of human trafficking, helping participants learn how to identify a child in need and how to report suspected trafficking. This training also includes specific components on trauma focused therapy, and how the complex trauma of human trafficking can affect youth.
Ninety percent of youth who are commercially sexually exploited were sexually abused in a non-commercial manner prior to their commercial exploitation. This is why the services that Hope House provides – including forensic interviews, advocacy, and prevention education – are so critical. Hope House’s clinical therapists also work with youth to help them heal from past trauma, which can directly reduce their future risk of exploitation.
If you have questions, please contact Cayla at Y2F5bGEgfCBjYWNob3BlaG91c2UgISBvcmc= or 985-892-3885.
If you see that this event has sold out online, please email Cayla to be added to the wait list. We may still be able to accommodate you.
