We're nearly half way through the year and so that means the Solstice is just around the corner. To celebrate we're once again convening on the Food Union allotment for a full evening of gardening, food, music and community.
For some the solstice symbolises the ascension found in many great spiritual teachings and for others it is the day we can most appreciate the benefits of having the Sun in the sky. We at Food Union can't wait to share the midsummer with you.
We'll be opening our gates from 4 for light gardening activities before retiring to the social area for a delicious, seasonally orientated meal courtesy of The Pod and live music from Larkspur.
As the evening trickles in, we'll light the bonfire and bask in the grand absent of darkness.
Once the music is over feel free to stick around and enjoy the campfire for another hour or so as we toast the not yet dwindling day light.
Larkspur are Giles Lewin (violin) and Melissa Holding (piano accordion). They come together to explore their shared interest in the traditional music of Europe. They play a varied repertoire, from a rousing Lancashire hornpipe to a plaintive Ukrainian waltz and foot-stomping Bulgarian ruchenitsas. But often their fancies lead them into a freer, more original sound world of harmony and sonority to enchant both performer and listener.

The gate will be open from 4pm, access off Four Pounds Avenue opposite Lakeview Park. Look out for the blackboard.

This is a family friendly event and friendly dogs are welcome as well. This is not an event with a bar however you are welcome to bring a drink or two as long as you remember we're located on a shared allotment and to be respectful of our neighbours.
