About the Event:
Join us at Village Cinema for an evening of story, song, and film. The night begins with guest speaker Dan Nanamkin, sharing on the cultural power of Indigenous storytelling. The program will also honor the memory of Colville musician and cultural leader Jim Boyd, whose music gave Smoke Signals its voice.
At 7:00 PM we will screen Smoke Signals (1998), the groundbreaking film recognized as the first feature written, directed, and co-produced by Native Americans. With Jim Boyd’s music woven through its story, the film continues to resonate with audiences more than 25 years later.
