This workshop is meant for those who are looking to empower themselves in close embrace dances and express themselves "where less means more."
Micro is a style of partner dancing that strips movements to their simplest connections. Micro is often danced at late night, but is also a powerful tool to add subtlety to dance connections and create contrast in phrasing. Micro has a beautiful way of keeping you connected with your partner.
This three hour workshop focuses on three core aspects of micro dancing: solo movement, negotiating close embrace, and musical, partnered conversation. We will
- execute clear isolations and musical weight shifts through floor contact, body control, and lag.
- recognize comfortable close embraces and confidently invite, accept, or deny close embrace within the dance.
- musically adapt to our partners and execute our own voices utilizing core principles of micro dancing.
Carpooling and planning ahead is recommended.
Full three hour workshop is $45. Venmo or cash at the door.
