Our panelists:
TERRY McGOVERN is one of the Bay Area's most versatile performers. He’s had all-around success in radio and television, in commercials and voice-overs, in animation and video games, and in feature movies and theatrical television. Terry started his movie career playing a reporter in Robert Redford's "The Candidate." Next, he provided voices for George Lucas’ first film, THX1138 and later for Star Wars. In between, he played the young high school teacher/ lothario, Mr. Wolfe, in American Graffiti. It's Terry McGovern's voice of the Sandtrooper at Mos Eisley, who utters the immortal words, "These aren't the droids we're looking for" "Move along!"
McGovern plays the nasty director who fires Robin Williams in the opening scene of Mrs. Doubtfire and as the needle-toting doctor in Nine Months, starring Robin, Juliane Moore and Hugh Grant. During a successful two decades in Los Angeles, his television appearances included guest star roles on "Cagney and Lacey," "St. Elsewhere," "Mork and Mindy," "The Hogans," "My Sister Sam," "Happy Days," "Newhart," "The Jeffersons" and "Fernwood 2-Nite," to name only a few.
Terry McGovern was a season regular on the CBS series "Charlie and Company," starring Flip Wilson and Gladys Knight. In addition, he became a star animation voice, creating the voice of Launchpad McQuack for Disney's "Ducktales" and “Darkwing Duck.” Terry McGovern teaches commercial and character voice, as well as scene acting at his Petaluma Actors Workshop: (www.petalumaactors.com) He has also taught in the Communications Department, University of San Francisco. He has directed five hit plays for the Novato Theater Company, winning Best Comedy Director, 2010 for Humble Boy
Jennifer March
I believe in the power of storytelling. For more than 15 years, I've had the pleasure of breathing life into stories — on stage, over the airwaves, and now, from my favorite place — behind the mic. There's nothing I love more than drawing listeners into a well-told tale — sparking curiosity, emotion, and a deep connection with the written word. It's storytelling magic.
I studied theater at San Francisco State University, performed in various community productions over the years, and cherish the energy of the stage. But my true passion lies in intimate storytelling — the kind that lets listeners feel every breath and heartbeat of an author's characters.
When I'm not narrating, you'll find me savoring other personal favorites... Camping lakeside in the mountains, traveling with my husband, spending cherished time with my sons and grandson, or communing with my "coven" of soul sisters. I love puzzles, old movies, knitting, and a glass (or two) of world-class Sonoma County wine.
RALPH SCOTT
An award-winning producer with a get-it-done (with a smile) attitude, Ralph Scott produces audiobooks, audio theatre, scripted entertainment, commercial spots, or pretty much anything within the live or recorded audio arena.
The characters Ralph creates on the spot (we lost count just north of 83) are only bested by the number of children’s verses he has written since he was handed a cocktail napkin on a dare back in 1993. (That would be just north of 1,700.) Give him three words and he’ll compose a witty poem for you in under five minutes.
Give him a studio and your manuscript and he’ll vibrantly breathe life into any character you craft.
Together with his roster of expert thespians, Ralph turns the studio into a theatre for the ear. Be sure to grab a chair the next time you download one of his audiobook productions. Dim the lights. And don’t forget the popcorn.
You’ll swear you’re in a movie.
