Learn about the organization's incredible environmental impact and discover how you can join their efforts to make a positive difference. This enlightening presentation will look at the history of Friends of Padre, including its founding, and how the organization has grown over the years. Presenter and Friends of Padre President, Aaron Baxter, will focus on the Billy Sandifer Big Shell Beach Cleanup, as the primary function of the organization and how the event has grown over its 30-year life span. This cleanup has become the world's largest single-day, barrier island trash cleanup and it has required the efforts of many dedicated people over the years. Friends of Padre has also increased its impacts on Padre Island and surrounding areas through donations to animal rehab facilities, supporting smaller, local cleanups, and student scholarships.

Meet the Presenter:
Aaron Baxter has served on the Friends of Padre Board of Directors for 15 years and as the organization's President for the last 10. Over this time, he has worked towards growing the organization to expand efforts towards conserving the natural beauty of Padre Island and to maximize positive impacts to the wildlife that calls the island home. This includes growing the organization internally, as well as increasing external funding to augment the scope of the organization's programming. Professionally, Aaron is a Project Manager at the Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program. Prior to being hired at CBBEP in 2022, he worked as a Research Scientist at TAMUCC for almost 20 years.
