Join the River Institute on Thursday, October 16th at Rotary Creek in Cornwall to learn about invasive phragmites (European Common Reed) and contribute to the restoration of local ecosystems!
📆Date: Thursday, October 16th
⏰Time: 2:00pm to (approximately) 4:00pm
📍Location: Rotary Creek, located south and west of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association 240 Water St W, Cornwall, ON K6J 5N1
Removal activities will include cutting and bagging seed heads (relatively low impact activity) and using a technique called spading to cut stems below the ground (slightly higher impact activity). Come prepared with weather appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. If you have them available, we encourage you to bring your own work gloves and/or clippers and spades.
All volunteers will need to sign a waiver on site. For volunteers who are 17 or younger, a parent or guardian will need to be present on site to sign. Or, if you would like a form sent to you to have signed beforehand, please email
