So you're feeling pretty confident about how you stepped up to the plate this summer? Or maybe things didn't quite go as you planned and you need to get a new benchmark for next season?
Well, now is the time to put your training (or lack thereof) to the test with our annual 5km Labour Day Chase.
This year's event will take place in Grey's Creek Conservation Area on Monday, Sept. 1. As well, it will be preceded by a 1km kids' race (16 and under).
The kids' race begins at 9 a.m. Depending on race numbers, it may be run in waves to best accommodate participants. It is an out and back course and parents/guardians are welcomed to run with their tykes to encourage participation.
The Chase starts at 9:30 a.m. and features two loops of a combined road/bike path course through the site. This event allows for gender/age neutrality and your start time is based on this. The first person to cross the finish line wins and . . . wait for it . . . will receive the much-coveted Golden Shoe Award!! Contain yourselves!!
Registration for both events is free for registered 2025 CMC members.
Cost for non-members is $5 for the kids' race and $10 for the Chase.
Organizers for the event are Kathleen Hay and Elena MacKay Bais.
Volunteers will be required to ensure a successful and safe event. We'll need folks to help with set-up, traffic control, start/finish line logistics and the kids' race. Please reach out to either Elena or Kathleen if you are able to lend a hand.
Registration in advance is appreciated, but is not necessary. This is a rain or shine event. On-site registration and bib pick-up will be available from 8:30 a.m.
