Do You Have a Story to Share About 50 Pope’s Quay?
We’re inviting members of the public to drop in to Civic Trust House on Monday 16th June, from 10am to 2pm, to share any memories, stories or knowledge they may have about 50 Pope’s Quay—a building that has been home to the arts companies of Civic Trust House for the past 19 years and a part of Cork’s streetscape for over 300.
This project, supported by The Heritage Council under the 2025 Community Heritage Grant Scheme, aims to explore the architectural and social history of this rare early Georgian building and bring its stories to life through research, drama, and digital interpretation.
We are delighted to be working with historian Victoria Kingston, the Cork Folklore Project, and Strive Theatre Company to gather and present stories connected to the house. The research will inform a new series of first-person audio narratives, which will be recorded and made available both online and on-site, making the heritage of 50 Pope’s Quay accessible to all.
Researchers from the Cork Folklore Project will be on hand during the drop-in session to record conversations and reminiscences. No appointment needed—just drop by, enjoy a cuppa, and help us piece together the fascinating story of this historic house. If your time is limited, feel free to arrange an appointment by emailing
