Gemma Hayes has announced an Irish Tour.
She’ll be playing material from across her 20 year career, including songs from her critically acclaimed sixth album Blind Faith.
Says Gemma: “I'm really excited to tell you that I am bringing my brilliant band back out on the road this Autumn. It’s the culmination of a couple of years of hard work, releasing the Album Blind Faith, and several singles High & Low, Feed The Flames, Hardwired, Another and Contral Hotel in that time. I am totally buzzed to be getting out around the country gigging again.”
Gemma Hayes has been busy promoting Blind Faith since its release last September. Upon its release, the album garnered widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike. Mojo described the songs as ‘personal and intimate, but so universal it seems like she’s singing directly to the listener.’ And added it was ‘.. the album of her career.’ The Irish Times praised her knack ‘for forging desirable nuggets out of pop’s most basic constituents’ while crafting tracks that ‘veer from folksy warmth to silky sandblasting’. Hot Press declared ‘she’s never sounded better.’ While, Rock ‘n’ Reel UK celebrated it as ‘an album of delicate beauty.’
For Gemma’s most recently released track “Central Hotel” – which was taken from Blind Faith - she commissioned an alternative mix by producer Marius de Vries, best known for his film soundtracks ‘Moulin Rouge’ and ‘La La Land’ – and a very special video from award winning director Alfred George Bailey.
BIOG
The youngest of eight children raised in the small village of Ballyporeen in County Tipperary, Gemma Hayes’ introduced herself to the world with her 2002 debut Night On My Side. With its deft production, ambitious arrangements and Hayes’ dreamy, rock-leaning vocal delivery, the album was a critical and commercial success and was nominated for the Mercury Prize.
Since then, she has released five critically acclaimed studio albums and a limited-edition live album. Blind Faith is the latest of these and released in late Autumn 2024.
Gemma’s - 3 nights in a row ‘London Residency’ – scheduled for early this September, has already sold out.
Meanwhile her music is constantly in demand for film and TV placements. Her version of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game”, recorded for the US TV series ‘Pretty Little Liars’, now has over 30 million streams, and most recently her song “Oliver” was featured in the soundtrack to the AppleTV series “Your Friends & Neighbours”
