We’re delighted to share that the singer, musician and Naad yogi Ashish Dha will be coming to the Oasis in Ballydehob as part of his European Summer tour! He’ll offer us two evenings of Indian music: a beginners-workshop in Indian Classical singing as well as an intimate concert of Vocal Raag music.

WORKSHOP IN INDIAN CLASSICAL SINGING
In this beginner-friendly workshop on Hindustaanee classical raag-based singing, seasoned international musician Ashish Dha will guide us towards a greater appreciation of raagdaaree music, and refine our singing technique within the rich Dhrupad tradition of saadhaaraN geeti (‘natural-voice’ singing).

THIS WORKSHOP IS SUITABLE FOR ALL LEVELS, including complete beginners! :)


RAAG MUSIC VOCAL RECITAL
In the Friday concert Ashish will present both old and new raags, singing in the dhrupad as well as qhayaal styles. His solo voice will be supplemented by two virtual instruments. First, an app that emulates the acoustic taanpuraa, the traditional drone instrument from South Asia, which has one of the richest and most complex spectrums of harmonic overtones of all musical instruments. And second, a tablaa app that provides rhythmic accompaniment.
