On Sunday, August 24th, a dear friend to many, Shawn Kelley, had a motorcycle accident and has suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury resulting in paralysis below the waist. This has become a life altering event. As with most new beginnings, he and his family could never have prepared for this. I along with his closest friends and family are organizing this event to help manage some of the expenses that have come with these next steps of their lives. Shawn has friends and family that love and support him endlessly. But what he needs most right now is for all of us to continue to come together and help his transition into this "new normal"
For those that know, Shawn and Brandi have organized events, motorcycle rides, and numerous other functions to help those in need in the community. Collectively, they have raised thousands of dollars for others. If there ever was a family that could use a return blessing, I assure you this is the one.
Shawn is a retired law enforcement officer and currently works for Alabama Power Company. He and Brandi have great medical insurance. This effort isn't solely about providing for medical costs, there already have been great head ways made to in attaining the things the Kelley family needs such as wheelchair accessibility to their home and transportation, but there is still significant needs to be met to assist Shawn and Brandi further into this next chapter.
The only requirement for sign up is a min 5$ donation. Any and all proceeds will be handed over to the Kelley family upon completion of the event to be used however they see fit.
This Event will begin at 6 A.M. we will sign up and gather in the city courthouse square. We will have a brief moment of fellowship and prayer and begin the walk/run around 6:45-7:00 A.M. We expect to be done 8:30-9:00 A.M.
