As part of our 15th birthday celebrations, we’d like to invite you to be part of a unique, immersive experience under GAIA by Luke Jerram – a breathtaking, seven-metre replica of planet Earth suspended in our theatre this September.
We’re looking for original writing to be recorded and featured during a special twilight drop-in session on Thu 18 September. These recordings will become part of a soundscape played beneath GAIA in an ambient, family-friendly installation exploring our relationship with the planet.
What we’re looking for:
● Any style of original writing (short stories, spoken-word poetry, prose etc.)
● Between 1- 4 minutes in length when read aloud
● Your writing should respond to at least one of the following themes: Community,
Nature, Climate or Culture.
● Open to everyone – whether you’re an experienced writer or just curious to try
● All ages welcome – family-friendly content only, please.
Key Dates:
● Call-out opens: Fri 1 August
● Deadline to submit: Midnight, Mon 25 August
● Selections announced: Fri 29 August
● 1 Recording session: Between Mon 1– Fri 12 September
How to apply:
Submit your written piece via our form below. If selected, you’ll be invited to professionally record your piece, which will be played during our drop-in immersive twilight session on Thu 18 September.
