The Blackheart Orchestra are multi-award winning, multi-instrumentalists Chrissy Mostyn and Rick Plkington. They comprise a two person ‘orchestra’ playing up to 13 instruments in their unique live show. They have been described as a modern day Pink Floyd with influences from as far afield as Kate Bush, Portishead and Cocteau Twins to modern composers Steve Reich and Philip Glass. Their last two albums both achieved Top 20 positions with latest album Hotel Utopia reaching #13 in the Official UK Rock Chart and winning Best British Album and Best Song in the USA Progressive Rock Awards where singer Chrissy Mostyn was awarded Best Female Vocalist. The Blackheart Orchestra currently sits on six Best Albums of 2022 lists in the UK.

Foxpalmer also makes a welcome return to the Talbot!

There’s something about a song that can stop us in our tracks. It might drift out of a radio or be heard in its full glory at a live show, but however you catch it, there’s a connection that means you’re hooked for life, the imprint of those notes and lyrics stamped into your very soul. Foxpalmer has a whole store of such material, their siren song calling to your heart and head until they go around on repeat in your thoughts all day, elegantly firing off your synapses. With a unique mix of rock, Americana style folk and lush indie, theirs is a striking sound, as captivating as it is different.

Having played a long list of dates everywhere from Celtic Connections at Glasgow City Hall to the Dublin Castle, Camden in their native London and with three tours opening for acclaimed duo The Blackheart Orchestra under their belts, the outfit have more than proved themselves as a compelling live act, the spell woven around audiences and their fan base ever expanding. It’s in this arena that they’ve proven their strongest as songs like ‘Forever’ and ‘Wanted’ have struck a chord with anyone who’s ever loved and lost, the lyrics heart breaking and the music sublime. With more dates lined up and new material flowing out all the time, it looks like Foxpalmer will be both breaking and mending hearts for a long time to come.

"A strong comparison can be made between Fleetwood Mac and Foxpalmer, sharing in their haunting vocals and catchy guitar lines...I strongly recommend getting this album." The Voice Magazine
“...Fern showed a fantastic voice with some very good acoustic playing reminiscent of Tracey Chapman...” Ravenheart Music Festival review, Fireworks Magazine
“This is a lady with an immense amount of talent”. Garry Foster, WCR FM The Unchained Show
“Full of longing and a barely supressed sensuality, the material cuts to the bone and touches both the soul as well as making you want to move your feet. With a rare intelligence and craft, the band are destined to fill larger and larger halls, buoyed doubtless by plentiful radio plays as they provide a welcome alternative to some of the soulless mass-produced music we’re fed. Your only option is to immerse yourself in their warm and wonderful world.” Breakthrough Acts 2022, Get Ready to Rock website.

Autumn Dawn Leader joins us again back at the Talbot and she is sure to feature tracks from her brand new album 'Naked Truth

Autumn is a classically trained contralto vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, with a unique dark, emotive, and bewitching flavour. Critics call her a musical maverick and one live music promoter has said of her, 'Autumn Dawn Leader is the personification of a mic drop. Truly incredible.'

Difficult to put into a genre-box, Autumn is best known for her delicious chord changes, vocal sorcery, lyrical hammer blows and intensely passionate and dramatic performances. She's a powerhouse of vocal prowess and a purveyor of music compositions with a twist. She has supported such great bands and artists as The Blackheart Orchestra, Trials of Cato, Richard Strange, Chris Conway, Josienne Clarke, and Justin Sullivan of New Model Army.

Autumn started singing early, at the tender age of 4 years old, sharing a stage with her musical storytelling mother. She grew up and lived in the U.S., until permanently relocating to the UK in 2004. Now, Autumn is no longer a tender spring chicken and after recording and releasing a stream of 'make do' home studio albums, she is now, at the ripe age of 50, finally bringing out the prog influenced album that she was always meant to make, and one she hopes will live on and be her legacy. Autumn says: "I wanted something that truly showed what I could do, something that showcased my vocals to their very best and which brought out the nuances and uniqueness of both my lyrics and my music. And, that wasn't something I could do on my own. So, I took a chance on crowdfunding. I went to my friends and fans, with my heart in my throat and my hands out, pleading. Turning 50 really brought home how I am not getting any younger. I knew if this was ever going to happen, it needed to happen considerably sooner rather than any later. And, thankfully, those lovely friends and fans answered that they wanted this album to happen, too. And, indeed, they made the magic happen. "

And so, we have Naked Truth. A powerful collection of beautifully crafted, in your face songs, recorded and produced at Deadline Studios, featuring Autumn's incredible contralto voice, her thought-provoking, emotional and intelligent compositions, and some fabulous guest artists that brought the whole vision together. Available from the 7th February 2025 on Bandcamp, and then everywhere else from the 21st. This special album will also have a limited run of physical CDs, complete with beautiful keepsake artwork and a lyric booklet included.

Tickets are £17.50 in advance and £20 on the door
