Step into the Summer of THINGS!

Join us every other Wednesday for a series of participatory creative mixers at the , curated by The Things Lab and led by professional South Florida-based artists. These summer sessions are your invitation to explore creativity, connect with makers, and be part of a community celebration leading up to our fall exhibition: 100 Years of Coral Gables Through Objects.

invites you to bring a small number (3-5) of treasured objects that you are or are not ready to let go, or both—whether found, kept, or collected—to explore their narrative potential. How do these objects and images connect with your memories? What stories can you tell through them? We’ll listen to your stories and help activate new narratives, using your objects as starting points.

Caputo is a visual artist, art historian and researcher whose work focuses on the intersection of womanhood, nature, and feminism. She explores women's historical roles, permeable landscapes and the natural world in relation to humans, photography in the digital age, historical omissions, and the creation of cosmologies. A significant part of Caputo’s practice involves constructing large visual atlases that combine photographs, videos, and objects, reflecting on the ephemeral power of images and the construction of memory.

Caputo has had recent solo exhibitions at Deering Estate, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo del Zulia (Venezuela); and Art and Culture Center of Hollywood. Originally from Caracas, Amalia lives and works in Miami with a studio in Coral Gables.
