Gulf Stream x Honest Liars Fundraiser & Open Mic Night

Books & Books and The Books & Books Literary Foundation are proud to present a one night only collaborative fundraiser featuring Florida International University’s MFA open mic reading series, Honest Liars, and Gulf Stream Magazine, the literary journal produced and edited by MFA students at FIU.

After 17 years of being online only, Gulf Stream Magazine has returned to print for its 35th anniversary issue, First Words. This issue was made possible by donations from the South Florida community, including The Books & Books Foundation, and the editors of Gulf Stream are eager to keep it in print with your support. Copies of Issue 35, along with back issues from the archives, will be on sale to raise funds for Issue 37—and hopefully many more issues to come.

The Honest Liars reading will be open to MFA students and attendees alike, and audience members are encouraged to share their writing as part of this special night. Current students, alumni, editors and friends of the magazine will be reading their work and invite you to join, not only to support South Florida’s literary landscape by helping raise money for Gulf Stream, but to participate and be a part of it by reading with some of the writers who make up that landscape.
