I mere end 40 år har de ikke bare holdt traditionen i live, men fornyet og revolutioneret den, og man kan med rette kalde dem Klezmerverdens The Rolling Stones.
The Klezmatics er kendt for deres medrivende koncerter, der skaber fællesskab på tværs af generationer og kulturer. Siden 1986 har gruppen fra New York blandet jiddisch musik med punk, gospel, jazz og rytmer fra hele verden og skabt et udtryk, der er både festligt, rørende og inkluderende.
Nu fejrer de deres 40-års jubilæum med det nye album We Were Made for These Times , som sætter fokus på immigration, eksil og solidaritet – og du kan opleve dem live i København!
Koncerten er dette års Nytårskoncert, der arrangeres af Jødisk Kulturfestival omkring Rosh Hashanah – det jødiske nytår, hvor den jødiske kalender starter forfra. Som det er traditionen på helligdagen Rosh Hashanah, vil der i pausen blive uddelt æbler, som dyppes i honning.

The Klezmatics The Rolling Stones of Klezmer are coming to Denmark
Get ready to experience The Klezmatics at Copenhagen Synagogue – the world’s most legendary klezmer band and the only one in the genre to have won a Grammy. For more than 40 years, they haven’t just kept the tradition alive – they have renewed and revolutionized it, earning them the title of the “Rolling Stones of Klezmer.”
The Klezmatics are known for their captivating concerts, creating a sense of community across generations and cultures. Since 1986, this New York-based group has blended Yiddish music with punk, gospel, jazz, and rhythms from around the world, crafting a sound that is festive, moving, and inclusive.
Now they celebrate their 40th anniversary with the new album We Were Made for These Times , which focuses on immigration, exile, and solidarity – and you can see them live in Copenhagen!
This concert is this year’s New Year’s Concert , organized by Jødisk Kulturfestival around Rosh Hashanah – the Jewish New Year, when the Jewish calendar starts anew. During the intermission apples dipped in honey will be served, as is tradition on Rosh Hashanah.
