Rope for Beginners

Every first Thursday of the month, Anna will teach some fundamentals for ropes. This is a beginner friendly class and each evening will have a different topic or tie that you will focus on. You don’t have to be able to join every time to benefit from these classes.

Experience: none necessary!

You can join with a partner or alone, however we cannot guarantee that you will find someone to tie with - though we will do our best to match people who arrive alone.

We have some ropes that you can borrow, but we recommend bringing your own bade for the purpose (jute or hemp, not cotton).

What to expect in the evening: we will start with learning a foundation knot for a single or double column tie, which will then be used in a pattern that will be taught next. Finally, there will be a less technical exercise more focused on play/connection. There will be the opportunity for each person to try tying and being tied, so everyone can learn and experience both sides.

Wear clothes that are comfortable for you to move in. (Jeans or other stiff materials are not recommended)
