The Awaited Object – Opening & Events at the Mexican Cultural Institute

Join us for the opening of The Awaited Object, a ceramic installation by Mexican artist Graciela Vega, on June 12 at the Mexican Cultural Institute. Vega will be present to introduce and discuss her work, which explores the act of waiting as a form of resistance, presence, and contemplation.

The installation features five handcrafted ceramic furniture pieces—chairs, benches, and stools—that invite viewers to pause and reflect on time, the human body, and vulnerability. Inspired by the Route of Friendship, a monumental sculptural corridor from the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, Vega reimagines its expansive vision on an intimate scale, replacing concrete with fragile ceramics.
