In this experimental concert we will explore intimacy and sensitivity through our instruments, blur genre boundaries and expand the horizons of the classical musician.
We will perform three commissioned pieces: a) the very experimental piece "I will give my love an apple" (2025) by Connor McLean (US) where the composer explores the boundaries between the music and the musician, b) "Andvari" (2024) by Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir (IS) inspired by straws in the wind, and c) the beautiful "Aria" (2023) by Nick Martin (UK), fragile beauty inspired by swallows. In addition we will play d) interpretation from the graphic score of Silfurhljómur (2024); a collaborative project between Tríó Sól and goldsmith Gunnhildur Halla Ármannsdóttir (IS), and e) a quartet arrangement of two movements from the album Run rabbit run by Sufjan Stevens (US).
Tríó Sól is an Icelandic string trio based in Copenhagen. They began their collaboration in the summer of 2020 and have since then performed many concerts both in Iceland and in Denmark. They focus on performing unknown pieces and new compositions as well as interdisciplinary collaborations.
