Statoil
Statoil er lyden af den fedtede, sorte guld, der bliver pumpet ud af undergrunden, distribueret over jordkloden og forvandlet til kapital. Sådan beskriver det norske 3-personers-“static-oil-core”-band sig selv. Bandet med den charmerende, hjemmelavede genrebetegnelse laver teknisk avanceret, støjende og punket instrumentalrock, præget af tunge, repetitive riffs og hvinende noise. Med musiknumre med titler som “Hyper-capitalistic-wet-dream (finding the black gold)”, “Desperately looking for the most profitable investments”, “Trying to make music with our oil money” og “Declining oil prices”, alle fra albummet BLACK GOLD fra 2022, er Statoil en langemand til hyperkapitalismen, kynisk råstofudvinding og fravær af empati for menneskeheden.

Bar kasse og trommestikker i hånden. Et hvinende skrig ind i mikrofonen. Avanceret guitar- og basteknik. Det japanske band Green Milk From The Planet Orange laver progrock med artisterne A, Dead K og Damo på henholdsvis trommer, guitar og bas i stil med andre japanske bands som Acid Mothers Temple og Flower Travelin' Band. Bandets alsidige lyd er både krautet, punket og psykedelisk, til dels jazzet, og henter inspiration fra bands som Tortoise, Sonic Youth, Can, My Bloody Valentine og mange flere – sågar Miles Davis. Tempoer skifter, stemninger forandrer sig og publikum bliver taget med i uforudsete retninger, når den japanske power trio står på scenen.
Bandet blev etableret i 2001, og fik en loyal følgerskare. Siden dengang har Green Milk From The Planet Orange både været i dvale og ændret besætning, men siden 2016 har det eksisteret i sin nuværende konstellation. Green Milk From The Planet Orange kommer til ALICE som en del af deres tredje store Europa-turné. Under turnéen har de også planlagt at udgive singlen TRAGEDY UNDERGROUND. Statoil
Statoil is the sound of the sticky, black-gold liquid being pumped out of the earth, distributed over the globe and turned into capital. That’s how the Norwegian three-piece “static-oil-core” band describes itself. With their charmingly homemade genre label, the band delivers technically intricate, noisy, and punk-infused instrumental rock, characterized by heavy, repetitive riffs and shrieking noise.
With song titles like “Hyper-capitalistic-wet-dream (finding the black gold),” “Desperately looking for the most profitable investments,” “Trying to make music with our oil money,” and “Declining oil prices”—all from their 2022 album ‘BLACK GOLD’ — Statoil is a middle finger capitalism, cynical raw material extraction and the lack of compassion for the common human.

A drum kit and drumsticks in hand. A piercing scream into the microphone. Advanced technique on bas and guitar. The Japanese band Green Milk From The Planet Orange creates prog rock with members A, Dead K, and Damo on drums, guitar, and bass, respectively — in a style like other Japanese bands such as Acid Mothers Temple and Flower Travelin’ Band. Their versatile sound blends krautrock, punk, psychedelia, and even touches of jazz, drawing inspiration from Tortoise, Sonic Youth, Can, My Bloody Valentine, and many more — even Miles Davis. Tempos shift, moods transform, and audiences are taken in unexpected directions when this Japanese power trio takes the stage.
The band was formed in 2001 and quickly gained a loyal following. Since then, Green Milk From The Planet Orange has gone through periods of dormancy and lineup changes, but since 2016, they have existed in their current formation. They are coming to ALICE as part of their third major European tour, during which they also plan to release the single TRAGEDY UNDERGROUND. Chances are we’ll get to hear it when these Japanese prog rock masters take over the ALICE stage.
