"Yogas citta vrtti nirodha"
Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind
— Patanjali, Yoga Sutra 1.2
Join Cedric for this 3.5 hour meditation workshop and explore the heart of yogic presence through the lens of the Yoga Sutras
Meditation is the practice of returning to ourselves and to the still, stable presence that lies beneath the mind’s ongoing activity. While this presence is always here, coming back to it and to the practice itself can be one of the greatest challenges on the path.
Why is it so difficult to sit in meditation and to keep returning to it?
Thousands of years ago, yogic sages described the mind’s natural tendency to move, to identify with thoughts and emotions, and to drift away from the present moment. Meditation was developed to train the mind to come back again and again, and to meet the inner obstacles that prevent us from resting in clarity.
In this workshop, you will explore meditation through both practice and philosophy, reconnecting with the deeper stillness at the core of your being.
You will be guided through techniques that support you in
• calming thoughts, sensations and emotions
• cultivating focus and inner clarity
• returning to a sense of grounded presence
We will also look at common obstacles to regular practice and how to begin or strengthen a stable home meditation routine.
Some light stretching and movement will be included, but the primary focus is seated meditation. Previous experience is helpful but not required. What matters most is your willingness to turn inward and meet yourself where you are.
You will receive
• audio recordings of the practices
• a handout summarizing key points and techniques
