Scorch Films screening at ActionAid Denmark: Two documentaries on the fight to stop new oil projects – and a talk with a Ugandan activist exiled for his efforts.
In collaboration with the British filmmaking collective scorch. and climate activist Nyombi Morris, ActionAid Denmark would like to invite you to invite you to a film screening that dives into the reality of climate colonialism and the activists trying to fight it.
It is about the ongoing North–South divide and the urgent calls for climate reparations — not just in words, but in funding, action, and accountability. It is about climate activists risking repercussions in their efforts to reach the ears of the people in power.
While the Global North continues to profit from new oil and gas fields, communities in the Global South like in Uganda are paying the price - through floods, droughts, displacement, and loss of livelihood.
You’ll watch two documentaries by scorch. and hear directly from Ugandan activist Nyombi Morris who had to flee for safety here in Denmark after going against the fossil fuel systems that allow oil and wealth to flow north while crisis spreads south.
