19.45 = GOOD MANNERS directed by Marco Rojas and Juliana Rojas, 2017, 135 minutes - This Brazilian feminist horror film weaves queer desire, motherhood, and class tension into a haunting modern fairy tale. When Clara, a lonely nurse from São Paulo’s outskirts, is hired by wealthy, enigmatic Ana to be her nanny, their working relationship blossoms into a tender lesbian romance. But Ana’s mysterious pregnancy brings a monstrous secret to light. Blending social realism with werewolf mythology, Good Manners reimagines female intimacy, care, and transformation in ways that blur the line between love and the monstrous.
