Duo Extempore is an innovative musical collaboration between NYC-based pianist Nicole Brancato and Cooperstown bassist Evan Jagels. Known for their genre-defying performances, the duo blends piano, double bass, and projection to create immersive experiences that interpret history, art, and space through improvised music. Their work draws on classical and jazz traditions, weaving in storytelling, local history, architecture, and audience engagement. Whether performing museum concerts on period instruments, indie music films, or multimedia shows involving technology, Duo Extempore pushes the boundaries of what piano and bass can do together. Their performances have been praised for their creativity and emotional range, with past appearances at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, the Banff Centre, and festivals across Europe and the Americas.
