Music by David Nash, Jeffery M. Kelly, Edward David Anderson and Rick Thompson. Advance tickets $11 at leoandleonas.com and at the door $15.
David Nash is a Driftless area Songwriter and Novelist with an Americana style and narrative lyrics. His songwriting has gained recognition at the Great River Folk Festival songwriting contests. His latest Novel “In Wells’ Time” was a 2025 Minnesota Book award finalist. He performs solo and occasionally is accompanied by fellow bowling league band member Nicky Nieling.
Songwriter and luthier Jeffrey M. Kelly sings from his heart with a narrative that is both incredibly personal yet relatable to many. Much like his migration from the outskirts of Boston in his youth to his current residence in the Driftless Area of Wisconsin, Kelly’s songs reflect the ebbs and flows of time, growth, and the human experience.
“Accomplished songwriting and sublime presentation.” - No Depression. Music, by its nature, is a migratory creature. It moves as it moves, often powerfully, through people and places, communities and cultures, created and carried on currents of electricity and air. Edward David Anderson is one of its modern makers, a rock & roll veteran and multi-instrumentalist on an existential quest seeking and searching through song. His musings on love and loss, struggle and hope are a soundtrack for fellow travelers and were described as “raw and emotionally sophisticated” by the Chicago Sun-Times. EDA has been featured on NPR's World Cafe, Nashville’s Music City Roots, has twice appeared on the nationally syndicated radio program Mountain Stage, and even recorded an episode of the PBS television series Sun Studio Sessions in the iconic birthplace of rock & roll. He has toured with and opened for folks like Leon Russell, ZZ Top, Leo Kottke, Los Lobos, & Govt Mule and can be found performing live as a solo artist or with his bands Backyard Tire Fire, Black Dirt Revival and Alabama Getaway.
Rick Thompson
As a kid, I would write my thoughts into poetry. At 16, I began listening to artists like Bob Dylan, James Taylor, and Neil Young. Around this time, I started getting serious about playing my guitar. I vividly remember sitting in the basement playing Bob Dylan songs over and over, and I haven’t stopped playing guitar since. I wasn’t the only one in my family who fell in love with the instrument. My dad and uncle took to the guitar as well as my brother Gary who himself is a prolific singer and songwriter in his own right. which helped instill that passion in me. That family connection makes it a sentimental as well as a creative pursuit. Simply put, playing the guitar is something I have to do, it is my outlet in life.
Over the years, I have had many opportunities to get my music out there, from Larryfest, to traveling to California to play for producers. I am grateful for all the opportunities I have had to share my music with other artists in the music industry. The beauty of playing an instrument is that it is something you never learn completely. My music tells the stories of the good and the hard things in my life. Anyone that knows me personally knows, I am at my best when I am in a room surrounded by my guitars. This is just a short outline of who I am as an artist, I hope through my music you get to know me better.
