Viva Coochie brings fine wine and flavour to island life
What began as a laid-back island bar serving pizzas and cold drinks under the palms has quickly evolved into one of Coochiemudlo’s most unexpected food and wine destinations.
Viva Coochie, the community hub nestled just off the ferry terminal, is redefining what it means to dine on island time—offering everything from casual pub eats to themed global feasts and live music under the stars.
Now, the team is stepping it up once again with a new kind of island experience: a four-course degustation dinner paired with the latest release wines from boutique Clare Valley producers, Greg Cooley Wines.
Set for Friday, August 29, A Clare Affair - is a bespoke pairing dinner hosted in partnership with a nationally celebrated winemaker, accompanied by a live performance from the powerhouse vocal duo, Tenori.
“It’s about bringing something special to the island,” says Viva’s event coordinator. “Great food, soulful music, and wines with real stories behind them. That’s what Viva is all about.”
The night begins with canapés on arrival, followed by a curated four-course menu by chefs Roger and Chris—each dish designed to complement Greg Cooley’s small-batch wines, which are rarely found outside of direct-to-consumer events.
From Riesling to Shiraz, every wine on the night has a backstory, often named after influential people in Greg’s life—a tradition that adds character and charm to each pour.
It’s the kind of intimate, high-quality experience you’d expect to find in the city—but with sand between your toes and a sea breeze in the air.
