After 22 years with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Ranger Wesley Doolittle retired at the end of September 2022 and was immediately sworn in as a Captain with the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constables Office.
Wesley’s family roots date back to the 1800s in East Montgomery County. Wesley grew up in Splendora, attending elementary, middle, and high school there; he then graduated from Cleveland High School. Wesley started off working as a pipefitter and welder, although he was drawn to public service.
In 1998, Wesley attended the former North Harris County College Reserve Peace Officer Academy (now Lone Star College). In 2000, he was accepted to and completed the Texas Department of Public Safety Academy All Service Recruit School and he served as a Texas State Trooper in the Highway Patrol Division and was stationed in Cleveland - Liberty County.
After meeting his wife, Sherry, he transferred to Tomball. In 2005, Wesley was promoted to Sergeant in the Criminal Investigation Division of DPS and was assigned to McAllen, TX. Wesley later transferred to Houston and was assigned to the Drug Enforcement Agency. Wesley and his team were recognized by the Houston Police Chief, after he, HPD, and the DEA dismantled a major drug cartel component operating throughout Texas.
In 2009, Wesley was promoted to Texas Ranger and assigned to Victoria. Wesley worked as a Ranger in Victoria, Houston, and Conroe. Wesley honorably retired from the Texas Rangers in 2022.
As a Texas Ranger, Wesley had state-wide authority and worked with more than 50 Sheriffs, local law enforcement leaders, and state and federal prosecutors. Wesley has testified in both state and federal court on numerous occasions. Wesley’s duties as a Ranger included investigating Civil Rights violations, homicides, murders, officer-involved shootings, questionable death investigations, and public integrity investigations. While serving as a Captain at the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constables Office, he headed up the Criminal Investigation Division, Lake Patrol Division, Recruiting Division, School Division, Mental Health Division, and Internal Affairs Division, and additionally, he was tasked with being a Public Information Officer for the agency.
Wesley earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Bellevue University and his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management from Sam Houston State University.
Wesley and his family are blessed to live, work, and worship in Montgomery County and he is proud to serve our Community. Wesley is a conservative Christian, a well-trained lawman, and a fearless goal-oriented leader. Wesley’s dedication to you and your family will never waver.
