About this Event

Join us for a free day of learning! Tri-County is excited to offer MHFA, the nationally recognized, evidence-based training, to help equip individuals to support our military connected community that may be struggling with mental health or substance use challenges.

While military service often fosters resilience in individuals and families, some may experience mental health or substance use challenges. Mental Health First Aid for Service Members, Veterans, and Their Families focuses on the unique experiences and needs of the military, veteran, and family population. Unlike physical conditions, mental health challenges can be difficult to detect, so those in need of mental health services often don’t get them until it is too late.

Through interactive instruction and hands-on activities, we hope it'll increase your confidence to respond and ability to offer meaningful support to others and help get them connected to care.

**Please note: This training includes a short pre-work tsurvey o be completed in our Connect learning platform prior to the in person instructor-led session. The instructor will send out information on this about 2 weeks prior to the virtual instructor led session.

About Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training that teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health or substance use challenges using a 5-step action plan (ALGEE) to guide you through how to assess risk, listen without judgment, and connect someone to professional help. MHFA helps you build the confidence to step in when someone may be struggling. Scenarios and exercises make the learning practical, so you leave ready to help in real-life situations.
