We live in times that, for many, are filled with anxiety, uncertainty, and fear. Human survival wiring makes it extremely difficult to see beyond the horizon of the daily events that stimulate these emotional realities. But faith can be a force that reminds us "from the inside out" that hope can be found in connection and community, in beauty and friendship.
On Sunday, August 17 at 2:30 PM in Hannah Hall at First Congregational Church, 79 Clinton St., Jazz Sanctuary will remind us of this "faith stance" with "Yellow, Delight, and The Music of Friendship." Our First Church "beauty lectionary" based on the writings of Celtic poet and philosopher John O'Donahue, brings the delight of the color yellow to light as we pair that with the delight of genuine friendship, asking during our Conversational Time what it means to have a friend and what it means to be a friend.
Musically, we just HAVE to go for tunes like Mellow Yellow and Tie a Yellow Ribbon as well as, of course, You've Got a Friend! Vocalist Renee' Rouse will front the Jazz Sanctuary House Band: Joey Placenti on sax, flute, and vocals; Jock Irvine on bass; Ed Raczka on drums, and Tim Wildman on keyboard.
This should be an important opportunity to be reminded of the beauty and friendship that keep all of us human when we remember to "have faith!" Come join us and bring some friends - as always there is no admission fee for Jazz Sanctuary and all are welcome "wherever you are and BECAUSE OF WHO YOU ARE on you life's journey!"
