There is always hope for recovery!
Thanks to everyone who participated in the meeting yesterday evening. It was a good discussion about Letting Crisis Happen. At the next meeting on August 7, 2025 at 7:00 pm, we will be continuing with the Path to Recovery series with "Don't Enable."
Because recovery from addiction is not a set path, learning is critical to making decisions for everyone affected by addiction. We are in the midst of looking at several strategies as we strive to lead our loved ones into recovery. We must remember that addiction is an illness of the mind and body. Each strategy we look at has its own challenges. There is nothing easy about dealing with addiction from beginning to end. The strategies we are looking at are suggestions to consider.
-Get Educated - April 4th
-Be Supportive - May 1st
-Let Crisis Happen - June 5th
-NO MEETING - July 3rd
-Don’t Enable - August 7th
-Don’t Scold, Criticize, Shame, or Reject - September 4th
-Be Consistent - October 2nd
-Encourage the Addict to Get Treatment - November 6th
-Practice Intervention - December 4th
At all of our meetings, everyone is given an opportunity to share their experiences and/or ask questions. But, if you want to come, take in the program to see what it is all about, and enjoy some coffee, that is also fine.
Our purpose is to carry each other's burdens. Addiction is a family issue, and most families and friends are trying to fight the battle of addiction with little to no help or understanding about what goes on within the addicted individuals mind.
Meeting Guidelines
This group is for education, encouragement and support.
Everything that is discussed will not fit everyone. There is no "one size fits all" when dealing with addiction.
What is said in the group needs to stay in the group to include attendance.
Everyone who wants to speak will have a chance to speak. No one has to speak.
Listen to what others are saying, give attention to the person who is speaking, and avoid side conversations.
Do not respond or comment if the one speaking asks to simply be heard.
Think before you react.
Remember that each person's situation is unique. Respect that!
