SISD Community-Family Camping at Garner State Park, May 2nd-4th, 2025

Families of the Seguin ISD community are again encouraged to come out and camp at Garner State Park on May 2nd-4th 2025.

It's back! Seguin families once again have a unique opportunity to discover the joys of camping and Texas State Parks.

Seguin ISD’s Pete Silvius, SISD Director of Whole Child Initiatives has teamed with Texas Outdoor Family program and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) to host a camping workshop at Garner State Park next month.

Silvius says that on May 2nd-4th 2025, families of the Seguin ISD community are invited to camp at Garner State Park in Concan, Texas with the Seguin ISD family group for free. The cost of the campsite, access to loaner gear such as a tent, cots and cooking equipment plus a host of fun-filled, camping-related activities will be covered.

“While families will be camping at their own site, they will have access to restrooms, hot showers, potable water and electricity at each site. This is a great chance for families to learn the basics of camping and give tent camping a try without having to purchase their own equipment,” he said.

The Texas Outdoor Family program will loan lanterns, stoves and fuel, a coffee press, pots, fry pan and utensils in addition to the tent that sleeps six, two cots and four foam pads.

“At Seguin ISD we have expanded outdoor recreational opportunities for our students, families, staff and the community at large. We are excited to build new relationships while participating in healthy outdoor recreation with our Seguin ISD family, friends and neighbors."

Space is limited so interested families are asked to register only if they will be able to attend.
