DAP/DAENM SOCIAL EVENTS CODE OF CONDUCT
Our goal is to create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants. These events are designed to foster community outside of Facebook groups—not as a venue for hookup vetting. Violations of the Code of Conduct can result in removal from the event and from the associated Facebook groups.
Your Rights as a Participant
You have the right to feel as safe as reasonably possible and to have your boundaries respected. No one should feel required or pressured to interact with anyone they do not wish to. While we expect all participants to treat one another with respect, we do not vet or vouch for anyone attending. Please engage with others at your own discretion.
Code of Conduct
1. Respect and Inclusion
Disrespect, insults, intimidation, or threats of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes mistreatment based on age, ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, gender presentation, disability, or STD status.
2. Personal Space and Harassment
• Do not invade others’ personal space. Flirtation can be part of ENM events, but it should never cross into harassment or “puppydogging” (e.g., silently following someone around).
• If you’re unsure whether your behavior is welcome, err on the side of caution.
3. Consent to Touch
• Always ask before touching anyone. Even casual touches like a hand on the shoulder or a handshake must be consented to.
• Only offer hugs or other physical contact if you already have that type of relationship with the person.
4. Respect Boundaries
• Take “no” as a final answer the first time, whether it pertains to touch, conversation, or any other interaction.
5. No “Hunting”
• These events are not for “dragon” or “unicorn” hunting. They are intended for socializing and community building, not finding someone to hook up with or date.
• If you are dating as part of a couple, be respectful and engage as individuals, not as a unit looking for a third.
Addressing Violations
If someone violates this Code of Conduct during an event, please take the following steps:
1. Inform a Host Immediately
• Hosts are here to ensure the event is a reasonably safe space (these events take place in public settings so we don’t control everyone in attendance). They can address the situation by talking to the individual, mediating a discussion if appropriate, or asking the person to leave the event. You are welcome to bring a friend for support when approaching a host.
2. Follow Up After the Event
• If you prefer to address concerns later, please DM Dantè or Arielle (or another Admin in attendance).
Building a Positive Community
We are committed to fostering a respectful and inclusive environment for everyone. By attending these events, you agree to uphold these norms and contribute to a thriving community. Violations will be handled promptly to protect the integrity and safety of the space.rr
