Experience Level: Intermediate, must have at least 2 years glassblowing experience.
Whether you've spent years as a glass enthusiast, hobbyist, or running a full-on business, finding the time to hone specific skills and techniques outside your daily routine can be challenging. But, just like anything in life, it is essential to occasionally take a step back and remind ourselves why we fell in love with this limitless material in the first place. In other words, every now and then, you gotta treat yourself!
Cups and Cane: Treat Yourself is intended for intermediate to advanced students eager to dive into the skills and techniques associated with cup making, decorative design, and color applications using cane. With a limited class size, each student will receive personalized attention from the instructors and their TA. Ryan and Jonathan's collaborative demonstrations will illustrate foundational cane-pulling methods and then apply them to cup-making, which will increase in complexity as the class progresses. Eventually, we will touch on various twisted cane patterns, their applications, and goblet assembly.
Our class doesn't just focus on the process and products. We also provide a critical analysis to bolster your practical problem-solving tool kit. This new and improved glass toolkit can be applied to your practice long after the class ends, empowering you to tackle any challenges that come your way with confidence.
