Read with Rescues

Meet and read to some of our rescued miniature horses at Red Bell Run on Saturday, September 13th from 1:30-3:00pm. Students K-6th grade are invited to bring their favorite books or choose from our library and read to our miniature horses. Registered participants read for 20-30 minutes, followed by a monitored hands-on experience with the equines and a fun game or craft in our beautiful pavilion. Each child will receive a trading card featuring one of our rescued miniature horses and Read with Rescues T-shirt for the fall series.

The Sanctuary at Red Bell Run is a 501c3 nonprofit organization providing a forever home to special needs equines, those with medical or behavioral issues that make them unadoptable. Many times our residents are able to have a good quality of life with managed care; care that other organizations may not be able to provide due to staffing or financial restrictions. We strive to give each horse, mule, or donkey we care for the things that they lacked before coming to Red Bell Run. We do a lot of things here but at the Sanctuary, the most important thing we do is simply love them. They come here in need. We fulfill as many of those needs as we can.

A parent or guardian is asked to remain on site while children are in attendance and must sign a liability waiver for their child. Children are required to wear close toed shoes or boots. Program is limited to 12 participants with advance registration required through Eventbrite. Participants will be under the supervision of our staff and volunteers who have strong backgrounds in education. This event is free, but donations are always welcomed and appreciated.
